Diplomats and business leaders gathered in Sydney on April 20 to exchange views on global economic cooperation and the future of international trade.

The event, hosted by the Australian Business Summit Council Inc, served as a preview of the seventh issue of its flagship publication, EKONOMOS, which is set to be officially launched on May 29.

Distinguished guests included Ambassador of Thailand to Australia Arjaree Sriratanaban, Ambassador of Colombia to Australia Diego Felipe Cadena Montenegro, and High Commissioner of Ghana to Australia Doris Adzo Denyo Brese.

They were joined by diplomatic representatives from China, Egypt and Malta, alongside local business leaders, industry professionals and members of the multicultural media.

Frank Alafaci, president of the Australian Business Summit Council Inc and former board member of the Australia China Friendship and Exchange Association, said the upcoming seventh issue of its flagship publication, EKONOMOS, highlights the Council's role in connecting business leaders and promoting commercial opportunities in Australia and internationally.

"It is more than a magazine; it is a meeting point of perspectives—bringing together voices from diplomacy, business, academia and government," Alafaci said.

During the keynote speeches, Thai ambassador Arjaree Sriratanaban highlighted opportunities to deepen trade and investment ties with Australia, while Colombian ambassador Diego Felipe Cadena Montenegro emphasized the importance of multilateral cooperation and sustainable development in advancing global partnerships. Australian entrepreneur Garry Simonian addressed the transformative impact of digital innovation, artificial intelligence and emerging technologies on international business and trade.

The three speakers also joined a panel discussion moderated by Alafaci, where they addressed business, trade and investment challenges and took questions from the audience.
