A report released on Monday in Beijing is adding weighted value to the global narrative of Lancang-Mekong water resources cooperation, and providing evidence-based support for policymaking, academic research and international dialogue.

Titled "A Decade of Water Cooperation", the report is a product of a think tank seminar themed "Cross-Border Water Governance under Lancang-Mekong Cooperation" and organized by the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) of Tsinghua University.

While offering a systematic review over water resources cooperation practices and achievements under the LMC framework from 2016 to 2025, the report highlights the opportunities and challenges for regional water governance as the LMC enters its 2.0 phase. Its five sub-reports cover navigation, hydropower and green energy, water-related agriculture, water environmental protection, and future prospects.

"Water resources cooperation is a key pillar in building a regional community with a shared future," said Xiao Qian, deputy director of the CISS, at the opening session.

Da Wei, director of the CISS, emphasized that water cooperation is a core link binding the shared future of Lancang-Mekong countries and the CISS will work closely with experts across sectors to promote interdisciplinary, cross-institutional and cross-border collaboration.

Over 20 experts attended this event and carried out in-depth exchanges on cross-border water cooperation under the framework of LMC 2.0 and think tank collaboration.
