Baku hosted high-level talks between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, signaling a new phase in bilateral relations, DKNews.kz reports.

During an official visit, Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev met with Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov to discuss key areas of cooperation and future priorities.

Relations reach a new level

The talks confirmed that ties between the two countries have significantly strengthened in recent years.

“Thanks to the political will of our heads of state over the past three years Kazakh-Azerbaijani relations have been elevated to a qualitatively new level of engagement”, Minister Kosherbayev emphasized.

This reflects a broader trend of deeper integration between countries in the Caspian region, especially in trade, logistics and energy.

Trade, energy and transport in focus

The meeting covered a wide range of cooperation areas.

Key priorities discussed:

• political and diplomatic cooperation
• trade and economic ties

Trade remains one of the fastest-growing areas.

According to the ministers:

• mutual trade increased fivefold over the past five years
• reached 470.7 million dollars in 2025

Special attention was given to major joint infrastructure initiatives.

• Trans-Caspian International Transport Route
