Immigration authorities across the country investigated over 18,900 cases of crimes hindering national border management in 2025, the National Immigration Administration announced on Wednesday. More than 54,600 suspects were apprehended, 488 criminal groups dismantled, and 229 major cases were prioritized for investigation under the supervision of the administration.

Stringent crackdowns were carried out against illegal activities at ports and borders, including gun-related crimes, drug trafficking, and smuggling. Authorities solved 438 drug-related cases, arrested 579 suspects, and seized 6.09 metric tons of various drugs. Additionally, 2,098 firearms and over 64,500 rounds of ammunition were confiscated.

Lyu Ning, the administration's spokeswoman, said that in 2026, targeted measures will be implemented to address new trends in crimes affecting national border management. Efforts will be intensified to crack down on such crimes, enhancing mechanisms for joint analysis of similar cases and cross-regional investigations. Comprehensive operations will be organized to dismantle smuggling networks, aiming for precise and efficient law enforcement to create a strong deterrent effect.

Efforts to apprehend key suspects on the run will persist, utilizing strategies such as multi-agency cooperation and domestic and international collaboration to minimize hiding spaces for fugitives and bring organizers, transporters, and key figures of smuggling criminal gangs to justice, she said. Focused governance will be maintained in key areas, directions, and fields with prominent issues.

Lyu noted that the administration will also expand international law enforcement cooperation and deepen collaboration with key countries and regions, utilizing various platforms and channels to improve routine cooperation mechanisms. Practical cooperation will be conducted in areas such as case information sharing, joint law enforcement, and cross-border fugitive pursuits to jointly uphold the international immigration management order.
