Peng Xiaochun, former vice-chairman of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, has been expelled from the Communist Party of China for serious disciplinary violations and illegal acts, the country's top anti-graft watchdogs announced on Monday.

The Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission launched a disciplinary inspection and investigation into Peng in June 2025. The investigation found that Peng failed to fulfill his main responsibility for comprehensively governing the Party strictly and resisted organizational inspection.

He accepted banquets and arranged travel activities, failed to report personal matters as required, and did not truthfully explain issues during organizational conversations. He also held shares in non-listed companies, used his positions to seek benefits for others in project contracting and fund disbursement, and illegally accepted huge amounts of property.

The CCDI and NSC decided to cancel his enjoyed treatment, confiscate his illegal gains, and transfer his suspected criminal issues, along with the illegal gains, to procuratorial organs for review and prosecution.

Peng, 64, a native of Guangxi, joined the Party in 1985 and spent his career in Guangxi starting in 1989. He served as the director of the general office of the CPC Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Committee and Party chief of Hezhou and Baise.

He began to concurrently serve as vice-chairman of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Committee of the CPPCC in 2018 until April 2021, after which he only held the post of vice-chairman until his retirement in January 2023.
