A series of 13 stamps commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1931-45) and the World Anti-Fascist War was launched on Sept 3 at Shanghai Sihang Warehouse, the site of a critical battle in the war.

Issued by China Post, the commemorative stamps and one souvenir sheet were launched at the ceremony, whose content ranges from the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression to the story of the Chinese Expeditionary Force in Burma.

"These stamps boast educational and publicity functions, artistic appeal and permanent collection value. It's our hope that through the release of this set of stamps, people from all walks of life, especially the younger generation, will be guided to gain a deeper insight into the history of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression," said Lu Yan, member of the Party committee and deputy general manager of the Shanghai branch, China Post Group.

During the ceremony, first-day covers and commemorative stamps were presented to veteran soldiers of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression or their family members, along with student representatives, as a way to express respect for veteran soldiers and earnest expectations for the younger generation.

"Taking this opportunity to demonstrate the strength of the Chinese people is of great significance to world peace," said Du Xingliang, a 92-year-old decorated veteran soldier in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, who was also present at the event.

A postal exhibition commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1931-45) and the World Anti-Fascist War was launched at the Sihang Warehouse at the same time. The exhibition, open until Oct 8, showcases precious postal collections and photographic materials from across the country, systematically reviewing the arduous revolutionary struggle of the Chinese people and the brilliant achievements in the development of the country.

Cui Chuandong contributed to the story.
