The Ministry of Commerce said on Thursday it would continue to help foreign trade enterprises in China to better secure business orders and expand into diversified overseas markets, while strengthening service guarantees and helping them address various risks and challenges.

The ministry said it will help promote better and more direct implementation of policies for exporters and stabilize their confidence and expectations, He Yongqian, a spokeswoman for the ministry, said during a news conference in Beijing.

"We will further increase support for foreign trade enterprises in areas such as finance and employment to ensure their production and contract fulfillment," said He.

She added that in response to new situations and new issues emerging in foreign trade, the ministry would further strengthen policy research. The ministry will also listen to enterprises' problems and needs, and actively help them resolve issues.

Meanwhile, Li Chenggang, China's international trade representative with the Ministry of Commerce and vice-minister of commerce, plans to meet with relevant US officials in Washington, after his visit to Canada from Sunday to Wednesday.

China is willing to work with the United States to continue to give full play to the role of the Sino-US economic and trade consultation mechanism. China is willing to resolve issues through equal dialogue and consultation, and jointly safeguard the healthy, stable and sustainable development of Sino-US economic and trade relations, the ministry said.

The US and China have agreed to continue to extend their tariff pauses on each other for 90 days, since Aug 12, after trade talks by their top negotiators in late July in Stockholm, Sweden. The two sides had agreed to keep the tariffs at current levels.

Liu Ying, a researcher at Renmin University of China's Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies, said Li's visit to the US sends a positive signal of both sides' readiness to re-engage at a sensitive moment in global trade. Beijing's willingness to work with Washington through established consultation mechanisms reflects a pragmatic approach to manage disputes and rebuild trust.

"Such a dialogue is essential to contain uncertainties, reduce the spillover of geopolitical frictions into business activities, and stabilize the long-term trajectory of Sino-US economic and trade relations," Liu said.

Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co, a US tire manufacturer, said a stable and healthy Sino-US economic and trade relationship is essential for driving mutual economic growth and innovation, as evidenced by the substantial trade volumes and job creation it supports.

Nathaniel Madarang, president for the Asia-Pacific region at Goodyear Tire and Rubber, said that a stable relationship allows US companies like Goodyear to tap into China's vast manufacturing capabilities and consumer market. Over 1 million US jobs are tied directly to trade with China, which helps foster employment and economic resilience on both sides.

"By reducing trade barriers, US companies like Goodyear can achieve cost efficiencies and expanded global reach," he added.
