Recent high temperatures have posed a severe issue for the outdoor power operations of the State Grid Changzhou Power Supply Company.

To ensure the health and safety of live-line workers and to enhance operational efficiency, the company deployed heat-relief gear, including cooling vests and insulated work platform air conditioners, to guarantee stable power supply during summer.

On Aug 21, at the live-line operation site in Wujin district, Changzhou, Jiangsu province, staff members wore the new cooling vests. These vests, equipped with frozen blocks, can quickly dissipate heat from the chest and back, reducing the body surface temperature by nearly 10 C, with the cooling effect lasting about an hour.

"Previously, working inside the insulated work platform of the insulated boom trucks under the scorching sun would soak our clothes in less than 10 minutes," said Yang Zhengyi of the live-line operation team.

"Dizziness was common. Now, with the cooling vest, my chest and back stay cool, and working for an hour isn't stifling."

At another work site, the installation of air conditioners was underway.

"The insulated work platform of the insulated boom truck is small and stuffy," said team member Chen Bin while adjusting the equipment.

"In the past, staying in it for 5 minutes in the summer without wind felt like being in a 'steamer'. Now, with this air supply device, along with the cooling vest, the temperature inside the work platform can be reduced to about 25 C."

The insulated work platform air conditioner, as an intelligent air supply device, can deliver cold air at around 10 C, forming a double guarantee with the cooling vest. This not only significantly improves the working environment inside the insulated work platforms, but also doubles work efficiency.
