Beijing on Monday reiterated that the Taiwan question is purely China's internal affair, warning against stirring up conflicts and exaggerating tensions after the German foreign minister said Beijing was "increasingly aggressive" in the Asia-Pacific region.

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning made the remarks after German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul accused Beijing of repeatedly threatening to unilaterally alter the status quo across the Taiwan Strait, in the East China Sea and South China Sea.

Speaking at a daily news briefing, Mao reiterated China's firm stance on the Taiwan question, emphasizing that it is purely China's internal affair.

"The one-China principle is the political foundation for China to establish and develop diplomatic relations with all countries, a fundamental norm of international relations, and a widely recognized consensus in the international community," Mao said.

"To maintain peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait, it is essential to unequivocally uphold the one-China principle and oppose any 'Taiwan independence' separatist activities," she added.

Regarding the East China Sea and South China Seas, Mao noted that the overall situation remains stable.

She urged relevant parties to respect the joint efforts of regional countries to resolve disputes through dialogue and consultation, rather than escalating tensions.
