The 27th annual conference for Beijing studies convened at Beijing Union University, on June 20, under the theme "Theory and Practice of Beijing Studies through the Lens of World China Studies".

Over 100 scholars and experts from across China engaged in in-depth discussions on the theoretical frameworks and practical applications of Beijing studies, as well as local studies, contributing scholarly insights to their advancement within the framework of world China studies.

"To better align with Beijing's urban functional positioning, promote resource integration, deepen interdisciplinary collaboration, and integrate government, industry, academia, research and application, Beijing Union University has decided to implement a coordinated operation of the Beijing National Cultural Center Construction Research Institute and the Institute of Beijing Studies," said Chu Guoqing, secretary of the Party Committee of Beijing Union University, who elaborated on the collaborative goals, operational model, and future plans of the coordinated operation.

During the opening ceremony, a donation ceremony was held for the lecture manuscripts of Mr Hou Renzhi. The preservation of these precious documents epitomizes the continuity of academic spirit.

Meanwhile, the "Beijing Studies Large Language Model" was also officially released. Trained on a corpus of nearly 1 million geographical research papers? and 10,000 Beijing studies publications, the large language model enables intelligent academic retrieval, digital teaching, and other applications. This achievement marks a new stage in the digitization and intelligence of Beijing studies research.

Co-directed by the Beijing Municipal Cultural Heritage Bureau and Beijing Union University, the conference was hosted by the Beijing Philosophy and Social Sciences Research Base for Beijing Studies, with the Institute of Beijing Studies ?and the College of Applied Arts and Science? of Beijing Union University serving as co-organizers.
