The State Grid Shaoxing Power Supply Company's inspection and maintenance personnel conducted checks on the recently completed 220-kilovolt Tianmu transformer in Shaoxing, Zhejiang province, on June 5.

Due in part to the mutual tariff reduction measures between China and the United States, a wave of orders for such transformers has poured in from foreign trade enterprises in the region, State Grid said.

The 220-kV Tianmu transformer, as a crucial power source for Zhejiang Wanfeng Auto Wheel, the world's largest motorcycle aluminum alloy wheel hub production base, directly ensures the production continuity of the enterprise.

To ensure a full supply of electricity for the company's production line, the State Grid Shaoxing Power Supply Company optimized the power outage plan for the comprehensive maintenance of the 220-kV Tianmu transformer. The enterprise carried out comprehensive maintenance from May 20 to 29, adopting for the first time a semi-power-off maintenance method for the 220-kV substation. By supplying power through load transfer to facilitate equipment maintenance without interrupting the continuous production of the enterprise, the company combined the maintenance work of 110-kV and 35-kV equipment within the power outage window for 220-kV equipment. Compared to the traditional full power-off maintenance mode, the overall power outage time was reduced from the original 16 days to eight days, a 50 percent reduction in the outage period, and a 43 percent reduction in the time of level three operation risks, which has significantly reduced the power outage risk for local foreign trade enterprise users.

In the future, State Grid said it will continue to explore comprehensive maintenance models for substations, effectively integrate maintenance resources, enhance maintenance quality and efficiency, ensure the high-quality completion of annual maintenance tasks, and provide strong power support for the high-quality development of the regional economy and society.
