Using the modular construction navigation system, the State Grid Zhenjiang Power Supply Company has recently completed a ring network cabinet upgrade project in just over four hours at the 110 kilovolt Chuncheng substation construction site in Jurong, Zhenjiang, Jiangsu province. In the past, such a project would have taken eight hours to finish.

Through restructuring construction processes, dynamic load transfer and real-time risk monitoring, this system reduced cable terminal production time by 90 minutes, decreased the number of households affected by power outages by 116, and improved power supply reliability by 80.5 percent.

In the past, distribution network engineering construction often relied on manual experience with a coarse planning of construction processes. Safety risk assessments were solely dependent on manual verification, leading to inefficiencies and potential safety hazards. The newly deployed modular construction navigation system acts as an "intelligent steward" for the construction site, breaking down complex projects into 20 standardized operational modules. By utilizing technologies such as building contact lines and transferring power from medium-voltage generating vehicles, this system accurately identifies users who can be transferred, minimizing the scope of power outages to the smallest necessary units, achieving fewer outages in a shorter time.

Since the system's implementation, a total of 27 distribution network projects have been completed, with a 60 percent increase in efficiency in critical construction phases, a 45 percent reduction in construction duration, and a cumulative reduction of over 500 hours in user outage time. It has helped save the company more than 5.5 million yuan ($762,718) in outage losses. Power supply reliability in key areas has reached 99.98 percent.
