On Jan 23, at the distribution network training ground of Suqian Power Supply Company, a "simulation drill" for emergency repairs of the distribution network during cold waves, rain, snow and freezing weather conditions was conducted in collaboration with the Suqian Emergency Management Bureau.

The activity simulated a training scenario involving a 10 kV pole switch failure on pole 3 of line 178 in the 10 kV training ground, along with a conductor falling off from pole 5, during cold, rainy, snowy and icy weather conditions, which would affect the electricity supply to nearly 1,000 households in the surrounding area.

Upon receiving the emergency repair notice from the headquarters, Suqian Sungrow Power Transmission and Distribution Company swiftly assembled 15 emergency repair personnel at the scene. They promptly assessed the fault location and devised a rapid power restoration plan. For the two fault locations, the 15 personnel split into two teams to conduct simultaneous repairs. At the site where the conductor on pole 5 had fallen off, six operators utilized homemade elevators to ascend for emergency repairs. As the ladder extended to the desired height, the climbers, already equipped with protective gear, connected the self-locking device and commenced their task.

Upon reaching the repair site, they used windproof binders to restore and reinforce the fallen conductor. At the drill site for pole 3's opening failure, the emergency repair team employed two aerial work vehicles to address the switching issue. This approach offered a broader and safer operational area compared to personnel climbing the pole for replacement, saving over 50 percent of the time required by traditional methods and significantly reducing the duration of power outages for users. Within less than 20 minutes, the rapid repairs for both fault locations were completed, marking the successful conclusion of the "emergency drill" activity.

It is reported that this "emergency drill" activity is a comprehensive and centralized review conducted by the Municipal Emergency Management Bureau before the Spring Festival, targeting various supply guarantee departments such as public security, fire protection and power supply across the city. It also lays a solid foundation for ensuring safety and maintaining supply during the festival period for the people of the city.
