SINGAPORE -- An oil spillage temporarily disrupted traffic at the Woodlands Checkpoint, a major border crossing between Singapore and Malaysia, on Monday morning, according to Singapore's Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA).

The incident occurred along the Johor-Singapore Causeway heading towards the checkpoint, blocking two out of the three lanes, the ICA reported on Facebook, advising travelers to expect delays.

By 10:58 am, the ICA confirmed that the oil spillage had been cleared, and all lanes were reopened to traffic.

At 12:38 pm, the ICA reported that the tailback of traffic departing from Malaysia had subsided.

Approximately 300,000 people cross the causeway daily by vehicle, train, or on foot, according to local news outlet CNA.
