East China's Shandong province is encouraging enterprises in the region to launch enterprise-led collaboration between industries, universities and research institutes, so as to bring more innovations to bolster high-quality economic development.

Following the province's call for more such collaborations, Juye county-based Shandong Dipuxun Intelligent Technology Co Ltd has developed an intelligent water quality real-time monitoring and warning unmanned ship.

After undergoing launch experiments and ready to be mass-produced and put into the market, the ship features automatic obstacle avoidance, real-time water quality feedback and long battery life, making large-scale water quality testing more accurate.

"Previously, water quality testing required manual inspection at designated locations. Now, with our intelligent unmanned ship, it can automatically reach monitoring points according to predetermined settings and upload data to the platform in real time, thus saving time, manpower and being more accurate," said Wei Shouke, chief scientist of Shandong Dipuxun.

As a technology-based small and medium-sized enterprise engaged in the manufacturing of computer and communication electronic equipment, Shandong Dipuxun is empowering its industry chain with precise talent cultivation, through cooperating closely with universities and expanding its talent introduction channels.

Wei, the leader of its technical team, has been engaged in scientific research and development in the field of environmental resource management computer simulation and simulation for many years and is also a part-time professor at universities such as Yantai University and Ludong University.

"Bolstering enterprise-led collaboration between industries, universities and research institutes can not only help cultivate talent but also bring new future to enterprises, as by utilizing the theoretical advantages of students and teachers in schools, we can safeguard the economic development of the company," he said, adding that "Our cooperation can lead to good utilization of technologies on actual products."

It has been discovered that in recent years, Juye county has comprehensively improved its level of scientific and technological innovation, by focusing on such key tasks as activating innovation entities, building innovation platforms, and transforming innovation achievements.

In 2023, its R&D spending reached 589 million yuan ($82.9 million), and eight training sessions were held on high-tech enterprise application and R&D investment application, serving more than 260 enterprises.
