Chuzhou, Anhui province: proactively serving energy storage power stations to facilitate the transition to renewable energy

On Nov 7, staff members of the State Grid Anhui Chuzhou Power Supply Company visited the Longyuan Shared Energy Storage Power Station in Tianchang city to learn about its construction progress. With a proactive mindset of "taking the initiative", they facilitated the smooth grid connection of the energy storage project and made every effort to ensure its safe operation.

At the Longyuan station construction site, key personnel from the Development and Construction Department as well as the Dispatch and Control Center of the State Grid Chuzhou Power Supply Company conducted a detailed inquiry into various aspects of the project, including progress, operational mode, energy storage technology and application expansion. They engaged in discussions regarding the role, function and positioning of advancing energy storage project construction, as well as its impact on the high-quality consumption of renewable energy and power supply assurance after the projects are operational.

It is reported that the Longyuan Energy Storage and Sharing Power Station, located in the High-Tech Development Zone of Tianchang city, Chuzhou, is an environmentally friendly new energy power station. As the first large-scale centralized shared energy storage power station in Tianchang, the facility comprises a 220 kilovolt booster station and supporting energy storage power station, with a total capacity of 500 megawatt/1,000 megawatt-hour. Upon completion and while in operation, the station will assist Chuzhou to develop a clean, low-carbon, intelligent, safe and efficient new power system. It will play a pivotal role in maintaining the stability and balance of Chuzhou's power system, making it an indispensable key facility for the construction of Chuzhou's new power system.

"Since the construction of the shared energy storage power station, the power supply company has organized multiple communication sessions. By providing technology, information and services, they have helped us overcome difficulties during the project construction process, ensuring the timely operation and grid connection of the project," said Wu Hao, the person in charge of the Longyuan shared energy storage station. Since the project commenced in January last year, the State Grid Chuzhou power supply company has proactively served the overall goal of green and low-carbon energy transformation. They have actively engaged with the local energy storage project owner, understood the project unit's needs in a timely manner, repeatedly organized in-depth communication with the project leader at the project site, provided guidance on existing issues and collaboratively promoted the access system scheme demonstration, supporting transmission project construction and other related work, thereby accelerating the construction progress of the shared energy storage project.

Energy storage is the backbone technology of the energy revolution, playing an increasingly central role in driving the transformation and development of the power system. Facing new challenges and tasks, in the upcoming phase, the State Grid Chuzhou Power Supply Company will persist in advancing the comprehensive and deep integration of energy storage with the power grid. This will facilitate the green and low-carbon transformation of regional energy, with a focus on cultivating a clean, low-carbon, safe and efficient green energy engine. The endeavor aims to provide robust support for the safe and reliable operation of green power in eastern Anhui.
