Chinese marathon runner He Jie breaks record in Wuxi

China's He Jie refreshed the men's marathon national record at the 2024 HLA Wuxi Marathon in the city of Wuxi, Jiangsu province on Sunday.
He, 25, born in Ningxia Hui autonomous region, clocked 2 hours, 6 minutes and 57 seconds in the men's race, breaking the previous record of 2:07:09, set by his compatriot Yang Shaohui in December's Fukuoka International Marathon.
Tadu Abate Dedm from Ethiopia finished first with 2:06:18 in Wuxi, followed by his countrymen Abey Alemu Lesa and Nicholas Kirwa from Kenya.
