Winning medals overseas, Ningxia wine is building a reputation for its quality. The vineyards in the eastern foothills of the Helan Mountain, sun soaked and with excellent soil, have come to embody this. But what else is behind the growing popularity of wine from Ningxia?
With this question, China Daily reporter Owen Fishwick took a trip to some of the best wineries in Northwest China's Ningxia Hui autonomous region. He got his answer, which turned out to be, none of his expectations ahead of the trip, a story inspired by culture.
