Advanced Technology Stellar, a Shanghai-based chip startup, unveiled its self-developed architecture for graphics processing units, or GPU, which are crucial to the development of generative AI technologies like OpenAI's ChatGPT and similar products.

The move signifies the Chinese chip industry is accelerating efforts to achieve breakthroughs after the US government restricted the export of high-end AI chips to China.

Advanced Technology Stellar said it has full intellectual property rights of the GPU architecture and complete delivery capabilities, Securities Times reported. The company is scheduled to unveil its second-generation GPU architecture in 2025.
