Chinese jewelry designer glistens globally
Born in Beijing, Zhao notes that her design ideas are also affected by traditional Chinese culture, which she considers as classic and timeless. Her label's logo design is xiang yun, or lucky cloud, a unique image in Chinese culture since clouds are considered as lucky and featured a lot in Chinese pictures and symbolism.
She also released a jewelry design series named xiang yun, which features the Chinese traditional technique of high-temperature enamels.
"One of my teachers told me that 'it's not necessary to pursue new and creative design. What you need to do is to make the classic even more classic, which is what Chinese people are good at.' Chinese culture is very unique and offers me endless inspiration, which I am very grateful," Zhao says.
