Survey: Millions of children have lost parent or caregiver to COVID-19

More than 5.2 million children worldwide have lost at least one parent or caregiver due to COVID-19 from March 2020 to October 2021, with more than three-quarters losing their father and 23.5 percent losing their mother. Children in India, Mexico and the United States have been hit hardest by the pandemic.
