Hi, my name is Steve. I'm from Cameroon. I study electrical engineering at China Three Gorges University. First of all, congratulations to China for the excellent work fighting against the COVID-19 virus and to China Daily for all the information shared with us, I appreciate it thank you. Since the outbreak of the epidemic, I have been trapped in Wuhan. I stayed in my apartment for about five months and didn't go out. It was a difficult time for everyone in Wuhan, but we got a lot of support from different provinces in China and around the world. With the wonderful story about hospitals built in only 10 days, we were very happy with the visit of the Chinese president to Wuhan during the quarantine time. We stood tall and we beat the virus.

During this period, I saw many friends return home, but I decided to stay in China to help China to fight and overcome the virus. For me, the most important thing is to work together to fight this virus. Whatever our race or ethnicity, we have the same blood and this world is our home. Together, unity is power. At my last Chinese New Year celebration, I stayed up to watch the TV gala. It was really beautiful. There was fireworks, dancing and singing. I also tried to make dumplings and cook fried rice. I remember it like it was yesterday.

For this Spring Festival, I decided to stay in China and not plan any trips. I will follow the rules for prevention and health safety, spend time with my Chinese friends and learn more about Chinese culture and Chinese food to make this spring festival better than last year’s. I am very happy to have a good time in China and I wish everyone success, wealth and prosperity in the new year.
