Daxing airport to start limiting drop-off time

Beijing airport traffic police have announced a new rule requesting vehicles to stop for no more than eight minutes while dropping off passengers at the Beijing Daxing International Airport as it has gotten busier more than one year after opening. The rule, which will take effect on Nov 2, will not apply to buses with a capacity of 20 passengers or more, according to the public security sub-bureau of the Beijing Capital International Airport, which is in charge of road traffic at Daxing airport. Police and emergency vehicles will also not be affected.

Lifesaving defibrillators to be distributed widely

Beijing plans to install defibrillators in all of its subway stations by the end of 2022 to provide first-aid for any passenger who has a heart attack. The move is part of a larger effort to safeguard people's lives, local authorities said. The equipment will be automated external defibrillators, or AEDs, which can recognize an abnormal heart rhythm and quickly help the heart to reestablish normal rhythms through an electrical shock. The devices are regarded as a more efficient and effective method for saving lives in an emergency than cardiopulmonary resuscitation. A heart attack victim generally requires assistance within four minutes. People without professional medical backgrounds can employ basic skills to use an AED after brief training.

Typhoon Molave grows into a super cyclone

Typhoon Molave strengthened into a super typhoon on Tuesday morning, packing winds of about 162 kilometers per hour at its center, according to Hainan province's weather bureau. The typhoon, the 18th this year, wreaked havoc in the Philippines before reaching a location 470 km from the eastern coast of Vietnam at 5 pm Tuesday. The typhoon was expected to land in Vietnam on Wednesday morning. Driven by the storm, heavy rainstorms were expected across Hainan on Tuesday and Wednesday.
