National Frisbee headquarters set up in Xiamen
A national Frisbee Project Committee management agency of the Chinese Extreme Sports Association was established on July 29 in Siming District of Xiamen to regulate the management of the sport, according to the local authority.
“The Chinese University Ultimate Frisbee Association aims to enjoy popularity equal to the CUBA (Chinese University Basketball Association), to represent the highest level of domestic Frisbee in the national Frisbee professional competition, and to hold a Frisbee competition in 100 cities in eight years through the national ultimate Frisbee City Series,” said Wang Changlong, executive deputy director of the China Extreme Sports Association's Frisbee Project Committee, as he introduced the three independent events.
Since the introduction of the domestic Frisbee movement, it has developed rapidly in China. At present, nearly 200,000 fans have participated in it. Every year, there are many events organized by enthusiasts all over the country.
In May, CESA successfully held the first National University Ultimate Frisbee Championship in Xiamen. It will also host the 2019 Xiamen International Beach Ultimate Frisbee in Guanyinshan Beach, Siming district from Oct 26 to 27. In order to promote the development of the Frisbee movement and boost the regular operations of the industry, the first National Frisbee Coach Training Course took place in Xiamen from Aug 1 to 3.
The China Extreme Sports Association plans to launch in Guanyinshan a youth training camp and study tour base focused on Frisbee and extreme sports, including flying skateboarding and surfing. At the same time, it will also build regional training bases in Beijing, Chengdu, Xi'an, Shanghai, Shenzhen and other places to ensure a smooth training process for coaches and referees.
Han Jiling, secretary-general of CESA and director of the Frisbee Project Committee, said that Xiamen is expected to hold more extreme sports events and train the Frisbee coaches and referees. Taking Siming as a starting point, the association will actively promote the Frisbee movement throughout the country, and at the same time undertake more high-quality events to make contributions to China's extreme sports and Frisbee.
