Honor, one of the two signature smartphone brands from Huawei Technologies Co, announced on Monday that it will unveil a smart big-screen product in August, marking Huawei's officially entrance into the TV sector.

"We hope to leverage our years of innovation in smartphones to reshape the role of TV in our lives," Zhao Ming, president of Honor, said.

In addition to the entertainment features of traditional TVs, Honor's smart-screen product will function as a center for information sharing for families and a center for multi-device interaction.

"We never meant to blaze off a bloody road in the fiercely competitive market. Instead, we aim to bring new value," Zhao said.

According to Zhao, the new product also will have big potential for industrial use, given its strong computing, telecommunication and interaction capabilities, but Zhao did not provide details.
