Agreements covering a wide range of collaborations that focus on creative economy, education and training, scientific research, health and eco development have been signed between Kura Kura Bali tech park & regional innovation hub in Indonesia and leading Chinese high-tech companies during the Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in Beijing.

China's leading digital technology and solution company Baozun, China State Construction Engineering Corporation, Forchn Holdings Group, a Shanghai-based investment holding company, and Shenzhen Fountain Corporation signed memorandum of understandings (MoUs) with the Kura Kura Bali.

Cheng Xiaobo, president of the State Information Center said China and Indonesia are highly complementary and have great potential for cooperation in fields of infrastructure, energy and power, agriculture, grain processing and storage.

Indonesia is the most populous country in Southeast Asia, with a large population of workers and consumers, and has attracted a lot of investment from Chinese enterprises, said Muhammad Jusuf Kalla, vice-president of Indonesia.

He said that in past two years, China ranked first among the countries that have invested in Indonesia, adding that he encourages Chinese enterprises to invest in Indonesia's manufacturing industry.

"We are paying attention to the infrastructure construction to promote logistics and trade, and plan to build more harbours and airports," he said, adding the local authority will improve the investment environment and facilitate trade.

Under the agreements signed by Kura Kura Bali and the companies, all parties will support Bali as a regional innovation hub and the "Island of Happiness" vision for sustainable development.

It includes collaboration to set up business operations and premises as well as R&D centre and lab for e-commerce, for development of off-shore organic waste treatment and renewable energy, and to establish prototype for distributed waste water treatment, drinking water on-line smart supply and health services, and joint education programs with Tsinghua Southeast Asia Center.

Kura Kura Bali is a premium island development that will be in the forefront of the new Bali extending beyond traditional tourism.

It is positioning itself as a new regional hub that is committed to attract talents and value creation through inviting leading innovation and technology anchors and co-create a startup ecosystem dedicated to sustainable development that incorporate education-tourism, research-tourism and health-tourism in Bali and beyond.
