Migu Co Ltd, a subsidiary of China Mobile Communications Corp providing digital content products and services, has inked a comprehensive strategic partnership with Oriental Pearl Group Co Ltd, a company engaged in multi-channel media integration and distribution in the fields of high-definition content, mobile communications, intelligent operations and overseas business expansion.

Liu Xin, general manager of Migu, said the company, which focuses on sports and entertainment, is committed to providing an immersive experience for its users so as to meet people's growing cultural needs, while Oriental Pearl boasts the largest multi-channel video integration and distribution platform in China.

Liu added both sides aim to provide consumers with cross-terminal, multi-scene high-quality internet entertainment content, and will carry out cooperation in technology, content and platforms.

Zhang Wei, chairman and president of Oriental Pearl, said the company will give priority to its high-quality copyrighted content, including sports, film and television series, documentaries and variety shows to cooperate with Migu. They will also explore joint development, distribution and other end-to-end cooperation modes.

The partners will also carry out cooperation in 5G. Oriental Pearl will join the 5G multimedia innovation alliance initiated by Migu, participate in the ultra-high laboratory of China Mobile and jointly explore building intelligent offline 5G performing venues and multimedia innovation.

In terms of marketing and promotion, Oriental Pearl will help promote the development of the branches of China Mobile in various provinces in terms of business management, product platform construction, content management system and maintenance.

Migu was established by China Mobile as a specialized subsidiary targeting the internet space, responsible for the integration of digital content products' supply, operation and service. As the largest licensed digital content aggregator in China, the company boasts a portfolio comprising more than 20 million songs, 4.6 million videos, 1,220 livestreaming events, 500,000 e-books, 32,000 games and 550,000 comics and short videos.
