Leavers lace showcase comes to town

An exhibition of Leavers lace from the cities of Calais and Caudry in France kicked off on March 22 at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Shanghai.
Titled The Lace Review, the exhibition brings together the remaining 14 manufacturers of lace that are still operating in Calais and Caudry, and showcases to the public the uniqueness of this essential material that is often used in the fashion and lingerie sectors.
The exhibition also highlights the diversity of styles and uses of Leavers lace and pays tribute to 14 feminine icons through an optical theater created by French artist Pierrick Sorin.
Following Shanghai, the show will be held in Beijing, Seoul, Tokyo, Moscow, Sao Paolo, New York and Paris.
