This meant over several years I would return from various parts of China to celebrate the Chinese New Year in Glasgow! Part of my role, commencing in 1994, was to introduce the China I had been discovering. Some of the large audience, while maybe born in China had migrated to Scotland many years previously with little experience of the contemporary scene. Younger people had often been born in Glasgow. My photography, initially of Guangdong, was exhibited in a leading restaurant popular with the Chinese community. Later the works would be displayed at venues where the annual lunar celebrations occurred. Over the years featuring several parts of China this culminated in a large exhibition, ‘Beijing 2000’.
