Political Bureau meeting led by Xi briefed on CPC's work

The Communist Party of China's leadership is the fundamental guarantee for securing a decisive victory in building a moderately prosperous society in all respects, according to a key Party meeting presided over by General Secretary Xi Jinping on Monday.

During the daylong meeting, members of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee were briefed on the works of Party organizations in the National People's Congress, the State Council, the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, the Supreme People's Court and the Supreme People's Procuratorate.

The CPC Central Committee Secretariat reported its work to the Political Bureau at the meeting. Xi presided over the meeting and delivered an important speech.

The senior officials stressed that the Party's leadership is the most essential character and biggest advantage of socialism with Chinese characteristics, and the fundamental guarantee for striving for the great success of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.

It should be the top political principle and a basic political rule to safeguard the authority and unified leadership of the CPC Central Committee, and the whole Party must enhance political integrity, develop a better understanding of the general picture, follow the core leadership of the Central Committee, and act consistently with Central Committee policy, said a statement issued after the meeting.

Members of the Political Bureau and its Standing Committee have listened to the work reports of the Party organizations of the NPC, the State Council, the CPPCC, the top court and the top procuratorate as well as the CPC Central Committee Secretariat for three consecutive years. The practice is an important arrangement to uphold the authority and unified leadership of the Central Committee, and it must be carried out continuously, said the statement.

The Party organizations in the NPC, the State Council, the CPPCC, the top court and the top procuratorate should learn and implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the spirit of the CPC's 19th National Congress, said the statement.

The Party's political construction must be placed as the top priority, and the central authorities' decisions must be carried out without any changes, said the statement.

The Political Bureau acknowledged the work of the Party organizations in the institutions, given that they have upheld the unified leadership of the CPC Central Committee, implemented the decisions of the Central Committee, fulfilled their duties and pushed forward all works to achieve new progress.

In the past year, the CPC Central Committee Secretariat has made efforts to implement the decisions of the Central Committee, assisted the Central Committee to advance the work of governing the Party with strict discipline, and coordinated to host a series of key meetings and commemorating ceremonies, the statement said.
