He said that the mission members will have 75 one-on-one business meetings during stay here to expand business in Hong Kong, the Pearl River Delta Region and other places across China.
Hong Kong was turning towards clean energy development and worked hard to become a hub for investment and innovation, said Locke, adding that many US companies looked to take advantage of the strengths Hong Kong as well as Hong Kong companies' expertise and experience on the Chinese mainland.
Locke said energy worldwide was a $6-trillion market, and the fastest-growing sector was of the cleaner, greener kind. "The new energy has to be clean to avoid catastrophic climate change, and it has to be cheap to keep economies growing," he said.
Locke also mentioned that he will discuss issues including China's new indigenous innovation accreditation system with his Chinese counterparts later in private meetings and at the upcoming Strategic and Economic Dialogue.
"We have to strive to solve our problems through cooperation," he said.
