The top-ranked Chinese rediscovered their form after losing the first set to give both teams a 2-2 record.

First-round results between teams competing in the second phase count in the latest standings.

Captain Feng Kun was pleased China was able to recover from losses to Russia and Germany in the first round.

"We had a little tension but I think we played well today," Feng said. "We recovered our team spirit and played very well so it was really good for us."

Wang Yimei led the scoring with 23 points for China, while Americas Nancy Metcalf fired in 20. America's Chinese coach Ping Lang said her compatriots were just too good.

"China had good rhythm and good offense and we didn't have much of a chance," said Lang.
