Designed to serve the expected amount of passengers in 2015, the third terminal will be 2,900 metres long with a rail system inside to transport passengers. A third runway will provide 94 more aircraft parking bays.
Together with the airport expansion work, a second airport freeway connecting the airport with major ring roads and two highways stretching to the outskirt counties are scheduled for construction.
All these projects, as well as scientific management of traffic, will reportedly ensure regular functioning of the traffic system in Beijing during the Olympic Games. Undoubtedly, Beijing citizens are the ones who will benefit most.
